General Aim of Lami's Theorem Experiment

Verification of Lami’s Rule

Method of Lami's Theorem Experiment

Lami’s Rule through lami's theorem experiment.

Learning Objectives ILO

  • By the end of lami's theorem experiment, the student should be able to:

  • Understand Lami’s Rule and lami's theorem application.
  • Apply Lami’s Rule to find the unknown weight.
  • Understand the relation between forces acting on a point at equilibrium and the angles between them.
  • Explain Lami's theorem

Theoretical Background

Lami's theorem statement states when three forces acting at a point are in equilibrium, then each force is proportional to the sine of the angle between the other two forces.

Principle Of Work

  • According to Lami’s Rule, the unknown weight can be calculated by knowing the angle between each two forces and the other two forces.
  • This will be applied by hanging two known weights in pulley 1 and pulley 2 and unknown weight will be hanged on pulley 3 then the angle of each weight will be changed until we reach equilibrium.
