Magnetic Field due to Circular Loop Simulation

General Aim

Determination of magnetic field of a circular current loop along its axis.

Method

Inducing of magnetic field by electric current

Learning Objectives (ILOs)

  • Enumerates the factors affecting magnetic field due to circular loop carrying current.

  • Set up a magnetic field due to circular loop simulation to study the magnetic field produced by current passing through a circular loop along its axis.

Theoretical Background / Context

  • A current passing through  wire produces a magnetic field in the region around the conductor that can be calculated using Biot Savart law. This Biot Savart law experiment demonstrates the magnetic field of circular loop.
  • When a circular loop of radius r, carrying a current I
  • At a point P along the axis of the coil a distance z from its center, the magnetic field at centre of circular loop is given by the circular loop magnetic field formula, which can be visualized using magnetic field due to circular loop simulation.

Principle Work of Magnetic Field Due to Circular Loop Simulation

Studying the variation of magnetic field due to circular loop produced by a circular turn carrying current I, at different points along the axis of the loop. The circle magnetic field follows the magnetic field of circular loop formula. Results can be compared with the magnetic field due to circular loop simulation.
